Postgraduate Intern – Stores (Harare) at World Vision Zimbabwe

Work description

The intern will support the Stores team to manage organizational inventory effectively. This includes participation in carrying out the following activities: – receiving, dispatching, transport management, stock counting, storage space management, asset labeling and cleaning.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Receive ordered products from all suppliers and update all accounting books.
  • Checks received items to ensure that the organization has received the correct items in terms of quantity, quality, time and location.
  • Verify that the specifications and quantities of goods delivered are as indicated in the order, report discrepancies to the attention of the supervisor or request initiator for guidance on the way forward.
  • Completes and maintains all required records i.e. GRV and container card updates.
  • Tracks assets during the period they are in the organization’s custody.
  • Deliver products to the appropriate end-user owner or project who requested the items.
  • Ensure necessary records are completed i.e. shipping note and updating container cards.
  • Coordinate inbound and outbound logistics in both the dispatch and receiving bays on a daily basis to avoid confusion that could alter the purpose of all processes.
  • Reconcile stocks that are what is available and what has been recorded to identify obsolete and damaged stocks and ensure the correct count of the quantity of goods in stock.

Qualifications and experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Management, Administration or Related.
  • Good time management skills and ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Good organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience interacting, communicating and collaborating with others to achieve desired results.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Recent graduates (within 2 years or have graduated) who are ready to explore a career that will make a difference in children’s lives.
  • A genuine desire and willingness to serve rural communities.
  • Willingness to adhere to the World Vision International Declaration of Christian Faith.
