SportSG to launch new booking platform to combat bots and multiple accounts

My ActiveSG+

The revamped platform, My ActiveSG+, is part of SportSG’s ongoing efforts to ensure easy and fair access to booking public sports facilities and programmes, the statutory board said in a press release on Friday (May 3).

It will also address changes in members’ habits and demands, SportSG added.

MyActiveSG+ will contain features developed from feedback from users of SportSG’s membership management system, as well as the recently piloted ActiveSG Beta.

The latter was introduced in March as a test version of the upcoming reservation system. The trial will end on June 14.

MyActiveSG+ will launch on June 15.

MyActiveSG+ users will need to register and log in with their Singpass to prevent people from having multiple accounts or using bots to book facilities and programmes.

A voting feature will also be available to reserve slots during peak times.

This will “allow everyone a fair chance to book their preferred venue, with enough time to consider it and without having to worry about missing a booking window,” SportSG said.

Unallocated slots from the peak hour reservation voting exercise will be released for booking on a first-come, first-served basis at noon the next day, 13 days before the date of use, it added.

Reservations for off-peak slots will be made on a first-come, first-served basis.

Peak hours are from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Monday to Friday and from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.

MyActiveSG+ will be a web-based platform that will allow users to access its updated version at all times on their devices without having to install and periodically update a mobile application.

Parents or guardians will soon be able to link their children to their accounts through Singpass, SportSG said. “Family accounts” will also be introduced on the new platform in the future.

A feature for refunds and cancellations will also be implemented later.

The transition to MyActiveSG+ will take a “progressive approach”, SportSG said.

Starting June 15, members will be able to log in to the platform. As part of ActiveSG’s 10th anniversary celebrations, those who log in between June 15 and August 31 will receive a one-time top-up of S$10 (US$7) in ActiveSG Anniversary Credits.

Starting July 15, all facilities and programs will be available for reservation. Reservation windows will open 14 days in advance from the date of use of the facilities or the start of the program.

Starting August 15, season and day passes for pools and gyms will also be available for purchase.

The current ActiveSG platform will remain accessible until October 1.

ActiveSG credits will be migrated to MyActiveSG+ between June 15 and June 30.

During this period, users of the existing system will be able to continue paying for reservations and purchases using credit or debit cards.

MyActiveSG+ users will be able to pay for reservations and purchases using credit or debit cards, as well as PayNow. ActiveSG Anniversary Credits of S$10 can also be used to offset bookings on MyActiveSG+.

Members will be able to start using their ActiveSG credits on MyActiveSG+ before July 1.

All ActiveSG credits will also be extended until December 31, 2025.

On the other hand, Active Wallet – MyCash will be out of service in mid-August and top-ups will cease on May 15.

ActiveSG members will be able to use their Active Wallet balance until August 14, while the remaining funds will be refunded through their Paynow-NRIC linked bank account by August 31.

The decision to roll out MyActiveSG+ to members progressively from June 2024 is intended to “ensure we give our members time to familiarize themselves with the new app,” said Alan Goh, CEO of SportSG.

It’s also to “give us room to make further adjustments based on usage patterns and more feedback from our members as additional features are progressively introduced,” he added.
