Chalobah on the “good feelings” after the Spurs victory | News | Official site

Trevoh Chalobah was delighted to contribute to an important victory, putting Chelsea ahead as the Blues beat Tottenham 2-0 in the Premier League.

It was a powerful header from the defender who headed home before the half-hour mark to give the Blues a deserved lead heading into the break. Chalobah was also a vital part of a resilient defense that dealt with the visiting team’s offensive pressure as Spurs looked for a way back into contention after the interval.

However, Nicolas Jackson stood firm and headed in from close range, heading in Cole Palmer’s free kick, which had deflected off the crossbar, to secure all three points at the Bridge.

Chalobah recognized the importance of the victory and his goal, his first of the season, against our local rivals and the centre-back hopes this will boost the team’s confidence heading into the end of the campaign.

“It’s a nice, brilliant feeling to have a clean sheet,” Chalobah began.

‘A clean sheet and a victory: we achieved it together today. The boys knew how important this game was and obviously the season has been up and down for us, the consistency hasn’t been there, but today was the perfect day to show it against our rivals and the boys were really up for it.

“We knew it would be a difficult game, but I felt that the boys were really prepared and that is the level we have to show in every game.”

Speaking about his goal, Chalobah revealed that it was something the team and coaching staff had focused on in pre-match training.

He continued: “It was something we were working on during training and we figured out where the danger could be.” We worked on it for the last few days.

“I think it’s very important that we do our job in our box in terms of cleaning it up, but we also have to contribute in the other box.”

Three points from yesterday afternoon keep the Blues within striking distance of continental qualification, and last night’s Man of the Match is confident of a productive end to the season with the right mindset.

Chalobah added: “Everyone knows that this season there have been a lot of changes, a lot of new players, but little by little we are starting to see the ability that we all knew we had at the beginning, but things take time.”

‘The faith was there and the confidence is growing. We just have to keep putting in performances like this and this is the level we know we can reach. We need to show it in every game.

‘Now we have four huge games ahead of us. “We are ready and trying to achieve our goals.”
