Man arrested for public order offenses at Wicklow hotel

A man was arrested for public order offenses at a hotel in Co Wicklow earlier this week.

The workers hired at the Aughrim site were allegedly abused by some people. Gardaí attended the scene and were also abused.

Gardaí confirmed that a man in his 30s was arrested on Thursday morning and is currently detained at a Garda station in Wicklow.

In a statement, gardaí said they are aware of misinformation, disinformation and fake news online in relation to the incident.

The Department of Integration has since confirmed that the building has not been reserved for use by applicants for international protection.

Investigations are ongoing, gardaí said.
