Police intercept child trafficking syndicate, rescue five Sokoto children in Abuja

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) said it has busted a child trafficking syndicate and arrested two suspects, Kulu Dogonyaro and Elizabeth Ojah, in connection with the trafficking of five children.

FCT Police Spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, in a statement on Thursday, said: “The suspects who attempted to escape arrest by Sokoto Police officers, were intercepted and arrested by FCT Police officers at the Kagini Junction, Abuja, while suspiciously transporting five children to the Federal Capital Territory on April 27, 2024, at about 8:00 pm.”

He further said that the FCT Police Command, in a spirit of unity, handed over the suspects and victims to the Sokoto State Police Command for further investigation and prosecution.

Meanwhile, the FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Benneth Igweh, urged parents to pay utmost attention to their children and wards, while reaffirming his commitment to ensuring the safety of FCT residents.
