From ‘Binti’ to Showmax: Tanzanian film producer writes script for Kenyan audiences

At the helm of this groundbreaking series is Angela Ruhinda, a talented Tanzanian writer and film producer who has taken on the role of the show’s head writer.

Angela expresses her excitement on social media, announcing, “I’m officially a TV show writer.” She continues: “I was so excited when Nick Mutuma and Njue Kevin asked me to be the head writer for this incredible all-female writing team.”

The series chronicles the journey of Ciku, a plus-sized woman who faces the challenges of life and the complexities of love, showing the resilience and strength of women in the face of adversity.

Reflecting on her experience working on the show, Angela shared, “We shared, we laughed and we worked under the guidance of our daring producers. And now the time has come to share the magic with all of you.”

Collaborating with Angela on this creative endeavor are four other talented writers, including Gathoni Kamau, Ciru Kairu and Safina Kui.

Directed by Nick Mutuma and Kevin Njue, ‘Big Girl, Small World’ will premiere on May 8 exclusively on Showmax Kenya.
