Police shoot, injure suspect in Kayole confrontation

A suspected thug has been shot and seriously injured in a botched robbery incident in the Komarocks area of ​​Nairobi.

Police said one of the officers who tried to arrest the suspect and his two accomplices was stabbed and wounded in the Wednesday night drama.

The police officer was stabbed with a knife in the left rib, in the lower right part of the chin and in the left thigh.

This led the other officer to shoot the suspect in the right thigh and exiting through the back, police said.

The knife with a wooden handle was recovered.

Two other suspects were arrested and 21 rolls of Cannabis Sativa were recovered from them respectively.

The injured officer and the suspect were rushed to Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital for treatment and released in good condition.

Police had been alerted that a gang of three were terrorizing locals, prompting the operation.

The suspects were expected to appear in court, police said.

Police are searching for armed men who robbed a petrol station at Adams Arcade off Ngong Road in Nairobi and robbed employees of petroleum products worth about Sh500,000.

The gang arrived at the premises on Thursday morning in a car and asked where they could get a cup of tea.

That’s when the gunmen got out of the car, pushed the pump attendant into a room and ordered him to lie down.

They tied his hands behind him and three other men joined them in the sales room where various petroleum products are sold.

Police said the gang packed several petroleum products into a sack and loaded them into their vehicle before leaving.

A team of detectives has been sent to hunt down the gang behind the attack.

And police are investigating an incident involving the body of Joseph Kyungu Mwendwa, 71, who was found at his home in Matungulu, Machakos County.

This was after a side wall of his house wall collapsed on him.

The body was found buried under the rubble.

The body was taken to the Nguluni mortuary awaiting post-mortem examination.
