Huawei’s new premium smartphone has a pop-up camera lens as a party piece

Huawei has revealed its new range of camera phones – the new Pura series replaces the P family of phones that were first launched 12 years ago. The most notable feature of the new Huawei Pura70 Ultra flagship is a distinctive rear camera setup with a huge-looking main lens that extends from the body of the phone when the camera is activated.

The motorized lens system will be very reminiscent of traditional digital compact cameras, both in sound and its motorized action, and is perhaps designed to appeal to those who have been returning to these early digital cameras. Cnet reports that the pop-up mechanism was tested for 300,000 retraction cycles, which is equivalent to about 150 per day for five years.
