Man to appear in court after drugs worth €80,000 were discovered in Cork

A man is due to appear in court this afternoon following the seizure of drugs worth approximately €80,000 in West Cork.

As part of a planned joint operation, Gardaí from the Garda National Drugs and Organized Crime Bureau (GNDOCB), the Customs Service and members attached to the Cork West Divisional Drugs unit executed a search warrant yesterday morning at a property in Skibbereen.

During the raid, four kilos of cannabis herb were seized.

“The search warrant was executed under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1977 and cannabis herb was located vacuum packed and ready for distribution. It has an estimated street value of approximately €80,000 (subject to analysis) “says a Garda statement. Síochána said.

A man, aged in his 30s, was arrested and detained at a Garda station in West Cork under the provisions of section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.

The man has since been charged and is due to appear at Bandon District Court this afternoon.
