Ghana: GJA brings World Press Freedom Day 2024 celebrations to Koforidua

World Press Freedom Day also comes at a time when attacks on press freedom have intensified.

Ghana’s journalists’ body, the GJA, is celebrating World Press Freedom Day (WPFD) for the first time outside the country’s capital, Accra, in Koforidua in the Eastern Region.

In a statement ahead of the celebrations, the Ghana Journalists Association said the new focus for the WPFD commemoration is to make the regional branches vibrant and inspire all members with a strong sense of belonging to the Association.

World Press Freedom Day is observed each year on May 3 to celebrate the “value of the truth and protect the people who work bravely to uncover it.”
