  • Alarming rise in cholera cases: Currently 93 Woredas are reporting active cholera outbreaks, mostly in Oromia and Somali region. Lack of funding is severely hampering the response, including the STOP CHOLERA NOW! campaign. campaign launched by the Ethiopian Public Health Institute (EPHI).

  • On the resurgence of cholera in conflict-affected Amhara, near areas struggling with new displacement in northern Amhara. Despite access challenges, health partners are actively supporting with life-saving interventions.

  • Ongoing cholera response interventions must urgently be combined with major investments in sanitation and clean water supply systems to address the root cause of cholera.

  • Worrying spread of measles outbreaks, affecting 98 Woredas, and emergency vaccination campaigns delayed due to vaccine shortage.

  • Slight increase in the already high number of Weardas with malaria cases (1,397), with ALL regions reporting a number of cases well above the emergency threshold.

  • Sharp reduction in Mobile Health and Nutrition Teams (MHNT) after May 1, 2024 due to funding restrictions
